The first article which I analyzed and read was In the Basement of the Ivory Tower. I found this article to be utterly repelling. The article speaks about a teacher who works at two colleges and teaches English 101 and 102. The narrator speaks of student in his class needing to pass his class. The narrator speaks of himself failing nine out of fifteen students. He says that he waits to see whether college will send him a notification or demand that he pass more of his students. He reveals to us that nothing happens of that sort. I found this to be a very outrageous thing because those students have to pay to take those classes sometime two or three times over. This must be extremely frustrating for the students that attend the college he teaches. I would definitely transferred or found another college if he was my teacher. He states in his article that sense that the American workforce needs to be more professional at every level. He states that most jobs that never before required college now needs to have a post secondary course work.
I think that the YouTube video was very interesting I think that the topics talked about in the video would be very helpful to present day student. I think that some of these ideas are practice today in college classrooms. I believe that it should be exercise more though. I think that the more technology we have in the class room the more we are exposing to learning. If we have expose to a variety of technology it will help us in the working world because the working world is full of technology.
The second article speaks about Professor Hibbits and his ideas and theory on a focused topic. In the article professor Hibbit was said that knowledge consists in those human cognitive structures which give data their meaning and value as information. I think that this statement that he made was very plausible and concrete. I think what you remember show importance to you and that’s the depth of knowledge. Archie Zariski article states that information is just something that is factual that you remember. This means that information does not necessarily have to hold importance to you. Professor Hibbits said that media have contributed to establishment and refinements of paradigms. I think that this is a believable statement because I used the media to help me every day.
How many schools exercise the ideas talked about in the YouTube video?
How did professor Hibbits come up with these theories?
Why does the teacher try to fail so many students in his classes?

I see the points you were making about the "Ivory Tower" reading, when I first read it i have to say that I had a different view. I don't think that Professor X purposely tried to fail any of his English students. In fact, when I read it I felt really bad for the professor, I think he felt bad about failing so many students, he clearly has a passion for english and literature and wanted to share that with his students and seemed sad that they weren't as enthusiastic as he was. I think he especially felt bad about failing his students who were really trying to do well, like Mrs. L. But once I read your blog I can see where youre coming from and its good to get a different view on things.
